5507.3 Other Backup Titbits

  1. Historically the major cause of Muli Servers not be available is "equipment theft".

  2. Backups should not be stored in the same location as the server - they can both be stolen or lost in a fire.

  3. Nightly backup means you may need to find & reprocess the days transactions in the event of system failure.

  4. Sometimes users take a couple of days to understand there has been a corruption of data. Need for depth. Not just last night.

  5. Purchasing new components, Setting up the server, Downloading the backup, re-entering user password and reprocessing last days transactions takes time.
