5516.3 Remote Desktops

There are 43 remote desktop software listed on Wikipedia and Muli have decided to utilise the free version of Nx Client and Server will enhancement to achieve Muli objectives of simplicity security and constant user expe.

For security reason only, the Muli issued utilities will function correctly.

Muli Server -- Muli NXS
Muli Client Workstation -- Muli NXCW
Linux -- Muli NXCL Microsoft Windows -- MuliNXCW (Microsoft Windows)
Apple -- MuliNXCA (Apple)

Background
  1. A full overview may be found here:http://www.nomachine.com/documentation/html/intr-technology.html

  2. A small extract follows.

NoMachine has developed exclusive X protocol compression techniques and an integrated set of proxy agents that make it possible to run complete remote desktop sessions, even at full screen, using narrowband Internet connections, at speeds as low as those offered by a 9600 bps modem.

NX compression operates at three levels on the X protocol:

    1. It compresses the network traffic by a variety of means, including -per message- differential algorithms, advanced caching methods, lossless and lossy image compression.

    2. It reduces network round-trips nearly to zero, maximizing the throughput.

    3. Adapts bandwidth in real-time, according to the network conditions.

NX provides X protocol compression ratios ranging from 10:1 to 100:1 and over, depending on the application being displayed. This is obtained without penalizing performances on fast LANs, so that remote sessions can usually run at a speed that is indistinguishable by a local computer.

Muli started by downloading the source code and modified same to provide a unified and simplified user experience for logging* on and after services.

We have a number of items that will be enhanced in subsequence releases to provide improved functionality for users of the Muli Linux Accounting Software.

Each Muli site is provided with a configuration file (Muli NX Conf ***) that need to be present on each employees computer along with the Muli NX Client software.

Host: Each client host IP name and address of the Muli Primary and backup servers are leased so that client connection management is limited.

Desktop: What is the user desktop on which the display is to occur.

Display Size: Initially Muli is only supporting normal 1024 x 768 display. Muli then displays a window of ?? x ?? that will allow full functionality with the operational desktop. (In due course, other options will be provided.)

Muli Printing: All Muli reports are developed as PDF and if all they are to be viewed on a screen. Muli use a PDF display(??).
If hard copy printing is required

  1. PDF attached to Email.

  2. FAX (G3)
